Small Quilt Presentation

Dots Show Business
Hand dyed cottons and silks, some commercial prints, fused and machine quilted, mounted on hand painted and stenciled cradled wood panel. 9x12x1"
$100 Email me. SOLD
Since works this small are unlikely to be taken seriously as art, it is incumbent on the artist to present them as they are meant to be understood...as fiberart. That dilemma has plagued me for ages, and finally two products have emerged that offer solutions for the diy-er in me.
One is the ready to hang cradled wood panel and the other is adhesive wafer thin velcro fasteners.

The total cost was for this size was under $10, and the panel could spray painted, wiped with stain, waxed, covered with cloth, or left natural. It all depends on the artwork.

The back of the quilt with the velcro ovals attached. Peel off the plastic layer and adhere the quilt to the panel.

Starting Fresh

Taking Off
Mixed Media collage, 12" square, watercolor paper mounted on cradled panel. $100

Painted and stamped papers, with ink and acrylic paint, drawing, gel medium.
I am particularly interested in composition, pattern, texture and value, with secondary interests in matte vs gloss surfaces. I think of these works as closer to drawing than painting, but of course paint is totally involved. Collage is an additive process, so my concern is careful arrangement of shapes and pattern to satisfy and organize my imagery.
Non-objective imagery allows to the viewer to find their own answers while it affords me the excitement of discovery during the process.
