Finishing Touches

And then he said, let's go to the paint store...

Wow. What a difference it makes to have these two troughs painted. They look like we have huge terracotta containers now. OK, in our humble opinion. But it does look so much better than the plain silver + Tractor Supply label.

Two down, four more to go. This is Dave's project, and it seems like golf might have to wait.

I decided to fill the cubbies in the corner bed with leftover plant pots. These are square but flexible enough to coax into diamond shapes, so they stay put in the too-large holes. This will work until the zucchini and watermelon vines get too huge and cover the bed edges. I'll move the pots then.
By the way, that green disc in the ground is a cover for our propane tank. It's always in the way.

  2. Wow! That makes a huge difference, painting them! What kind of paint did he use? And your cinder block plant area is looking great... I just started one last weekend, and hope to be ready to plant soon, thanks to your great idea! I am just so in awe of the transformation you two have made on the yard! And I love how you hung the bird houses along the fence. I have some I have wanted to put up for ages, but never got to it... maybe this year!

  3. By covering up the Tractor Supply labels you have given up any chance of T S sponsoring your garden. I still think you should send them pictures with the labels showing. It would not be a shameless attempt to get their attention, but giving them knew ideas for advertising.....(and maybe sponsorship for the yard.) I love the color and the effect it will give when everything has grown !! You both "did good" at the paint store!!

  4. LOVE that orange! And yes, they do look like humongous terra cotta planters. What a great idea!! And the garden is already coming along so wonderfully. It's going to be paradise in your back yard.....again.

  5. OMG! I am completely in LOVE with the orange paint job. I have built gardens out of unusual containers for shade spaces, etc, but your water tanks are so cool that I must bow to the queen of delicious color. That would be you......

  9. Interesting as the propane take at my grandparents was above ground and about as big as one of those "takes". Garden is coming along.
