Jacket for Laura B.
Yes, the summer is over and it is time to get the yarn out. It was a year ago September that I began taking orders for this jacket, in wools and not-at-all-wool yarns. I started this one back then but soon after we got all involved in building this house and it got put away. Things are settled now and the first cool mornings have signaled approaching autumn. Boy am I ready!
Cascade Tangier Yarn -3 skeins. Fiber Content: 47% Silk, 19% Acrylic, 17% Cotton, 17% Rayon. Cascade Avalon Yarn - 4 skeins. Fiber Content: 50% Cotton, 50% Acrylic. Mother of pearl buttons.
Laura is petite so I scaled down the jacket to fit her frame. This pattern is very easily adjusted. It fits me perfectly and our numbers match.
And I made another improvement, by lowering the neckline a bit, so that it doesn't choke. I'll keep that for the future jackets. I also added a nice finished bottom band to even out the triangle edges.
Once I have finished one knit, I dive right into the next one. I dug out the yarn for Katherine Mc. Here's her choice, in wools. Noro Silk Garden, Aran: 45% Mohair, 45% Silk, 10% Wool, and Knit One, Crochet Too Paint Box, Aran 100% wool. I've already begun the back of her jacket and it is so beautiful. The yarn does all the work!
Beautiful jacket! I love the yarns for this new one, can't wait to see how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteThe one you finished is gorgeous! Can't wait to see the new yarns created into something beautiful!! These are lucky ladies who have been patient to get their sweaters.
