And I am quilting a larger quilt these days. This is about 54x60" and it has been a long time for me to quilt something pieced/not fused.
I moved all my tables to make this larger surface and my feeling at the moment is that I will be quilting up the 13 tops I have waiting in a big bin in my storage room.
I made every rookie mistake when I started this one. and had to unquilt large areas. O well. I am back on the horse and trying out new stitch designs, combining old ones and seeing what I like. It will be a stitch sampler. And as my friend Margo says, a finished quilt beats a perfect quilt. (she of the seriously really perfect quilts). I am also knitting daily, so I am seeing my fare share of Netflix offerings and watched a really good one that just came online. Dr. Foster. I watched the complete five episodes in one binge watch, while Dave was at the pub watching the Chicago Cubs win the pennant. Dressed in his authentic Cubs uniform, beers and pizza were bought for him while the game was on.
Congrats on being a one house owner. Daughter and hubby have 3....not by choice, but a his, hers, and ours. Trying to unload 2 of them. Love, love, love this quilt with all the various stitches. Thank you for sharing that you made every rookie mistake. I've been quilting for over 30 years and still make them.
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is gorgeous and I LOVE the quilting! I'm so happy to see a post. Keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteThis may sound like a silly request but could you take a few pictures of how you handle the fabric as you work into to the middle of the quilt? I (and probably others) could use a few tips. I think this machine quilting thing keeps some of us in the small wall hanging arena.
ReplyDeleteI roll mine tightly and use clips or large safety pins to keep the roll tight.
DeleteDitto what Marybeth said. Would really appreciate watching the process as you navigate a large piece, as well as admiring the variety of quilting motifs you include. So inspiring! So lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt! It's just my type. Bright colors, batiks, random. The different stitches will just enhance it more.
ReplyDeleteI think Hemmingway said when you cease trying to be perfect, then you can learn to be good.
Looks like you have my machine...a 6500! Beautiful quilting job :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! And very good idea to have the large area to handle it on. I have only made a couple of lap quilts, and that's about all I plan to make. BTW, congrats on your escrow closing... I'm sure a big relief to you both.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! The quilt is beautiful! Can't wait to see it done.
ReplyDeleteAre you using any quilting templates or is this all free-motion? Pretty darn "not perfect" perfect!!
