16 x16 HSTs

Each block is made from 16 half square triangles, in various solids. The HST blocks are 2" before assembling them into the bigger block and the finished blocks are 6.5". The solids are the same size and the top before quilting is about 35.5" square. This is my first time to do precision piecing and it really, really makes a difference. Starch and trimming to size is the key.  I am gaining confidence to make quilts that have always intimidated me in the past. And now I think that I don't have to make a whole bed size version, just a quilt big enough to say I've done it. A big Thanks! to Margo Clabo for her advice.

I'll probably be quilting this top today.

  5. Your consistent use of vibrant solids is truly your signature, no matter what project you are doing. We need to be precise sometimes to keep up our skills. I've joined with AHIQ challenges and now have chosen to use muted color blocks to contrast with the bright blocks. It was fun and a learning experience. The more I learn about color, the more focused and confident I become. You have such a solid grounding in color that you can use them in any new way and still be yourself.

  6. Glorious! The turquoise really sings. Great idea to set the blocks on point for this.
