Missing Blog Entries?

Dearest Remaining Readers,
I have pretty much abandoned the blog because I so rarely get any feedback from the posts, unless you count spam comments. Looking back on the past year, the blog's views have dwindled and I can see it has become passé. I imagine my readership is more focused on FB or what they are now calling Meta, or just don't look at blogs anymore.
Thankfully my personal stories have also become pretty uneventful, undramatic and uninteresting, which is kinda nice on my end. Peace and quiet pervades.
So I decided my best way to have an internet presence is through Instagram, where I can post multiple images and can have many more views per post than here on the blog, minus the nasty spam comments.
I've been doing the blog for 17 years...yikes! and it was great, super great while it lasted, but all good things must end, I suppose.
My stuff will be visible here: instagram.com/fibermania/
and on Ravelry here: ravelry.com/projects/Fibermania
I've even closed my Etsy account, as things sell faster on Instagram and so far there are no fees for that.
So I'll just say it has been a great 17 years and I hope you will find me on other platforms and we can stay in touch there.
Thanks for the memories,
Lovest,

Busy Needles

Here's a recent finish, made by request for BJ out in Oregon. She saw one made in similar yarns and luckily I had more of the same in my stash. Of course they are all different, but close enough! The base yarn is Chroma Worsted by Knit Picks. Just a wonderful yummy yarn to knit.

Then I had this idea for polymer clay shawl pins, and altho they look like I had imagined, I  had some real problems because I didn't not cure them (baking) on the sticks and that weakened them and made them very brittle. Plus I think the skewers I used were not a good choice and I will go with metal for my next attempt.

As mentioned, I was dinking around with a new photo program and wanted the ability to make collages of several photos and add text. This cowl made by request for Sue in MI was the result.

I love using two yarns that coordinate, and this long scarf (shown doubled) is a good example. Both yarns are graduated, meaning they are spun in blending colorways.
This one I'm calling the Long Tall Cowl, 80"x7.5", in various multi-fiber blend wools, with silk, cotton, and viscose. Available for $45 plus shipping. Sold
And then a really big shawl that I am calling Thornless Roses, named because the yarns employed have a complete no itch factor. Plymouth Kudo, which is the darker stripes is cotton, silk and rayon, and the lighter pink is Great American Silk and Merino. 78" wide x25" deep, available for $60 plus shipping. Email me at fibermania at gmail dot com. Sold

Aqua Crescent Shawl

And now for something new and different, at least for me. A crescent shaped shawl with diagonal sweeps of color, including lacy sections. I used lighter weight merino wools, like Silky Merino, Rastita and Cashmerino, along with some of my hand dyed merinos. It was supreme luxury to knit. If you aren't a knitter, it may be hard to understand the feeling of deliciously soft yarns runny through your fingers as you knit. It is a sensation that is like petting a fluffy kitten.

This assymetrical shawl measures 60" long and is 20 deep at the center, which in this case is not actually centered. Available for $60 plus shipping. fibermania at g mail dot com...SOLD

Eyelet Scarf #2

Eyelet Scarf #2,  Toconao by Araucania, 100% merino, Plymouth Gina, 100% wool. 80"x14". Available for $60 plus shipping. SOLD

You know I make stuff for sale because I love to knit and want to share the finished pieces. I particularly love this long scrumptious design, which begins with only a few stitches and grows to the widest section and then decreases back to the tiny ends again. So versatile, stylish and cuddly.

Sideways Shawl #7

As previously mentioned, I am trying to learn a new photo editing program, to make my instagram posts more informative.
I think I am getting there! But it is so much easier to post the picures here on Blogger, and make them bigger too.
This is the cowl lying out flat, top on the right, point on the left. and here it is from the back. I think the inside is just as pretty as the outside.
This was not knit as a commission so it is available  for $45 + shipping.  Email me at fibermania at gmail dot com. SOLD

Alpaca/Donegal Shawl

Well, I am really getting fancy here, making a collage of two pictures of the same shawl. This is done with some intellectual effort on my part, being unqualified to navigate a new photo program. But none the less, as you can see. I managed.

This is a long rectangular shawl, about 54" in length and about 15" wide in stockinette with a seed stitch border. I think it could work as a unisex garment.
Very soft against the skin and as mentioned in the title, made from Suri Alpaca and 10% Donegal, which provides the flecks of contrasting color.
Available for you, for $45 plus postage. Email me at fibermania at gmail dot com.
SOLD
