Wrapped edges. I finally got around to getting a Command Hook on my wall to photograph the current work.  I made a photo collage of the works, including a few details.

Red Collage #4

Red Collage #4, 10x10", painted papers, stamping, mono-printing, drawing, stencils, mounted directly on wood panel, $100 Email me. SOLD

The thing about red...pure red is the only real red. Add white and you get watermelon, not a true red. Ditto with adding with any other color. Making a red collage means making reds that are the details, against not red grounds. That's why there is so much pink and orange and yellow in my red collages.

New Knit and Collages

Hilary's pullover, from Taiyo and Fibranatura Merino. She's tiny and recently got tinier, so this little topper will be adorable on her. Going to British Colombia.
++++++++
Here we have my artful mess of new painted papers. It dawned on me that if I wanted to change from making all turquoise/green/yellow collages, I had better make some new papers that were different colors.
So using my new little gelli plates, I painted, stamped, and mono-printed a bunch.

Red Collage #1, 10x10", painted papers, drawing, stamping, mono-printing, mounted directly on wood panel, with collaged edges. $100 Email me.   Sold.
It occurred to me today that we never got to do this sort of thing in art school. Why ever not? It is so much fun and really teaches so much about composition, color theory, design, pattern, etc. etc. Thankfully, I have had years of quilting under my belt which informed all of these pieces, which, by the way, quilting was never 'allowed' in art school either. I mean my whole art career was not even mentioned. Good thing I found it later.

Red Collage #2. Same techniques, same size panel same price. It was searching for something else, when I discovered a box of Caran d'ache oil wax crayons. They were sent as a freebie when I ordered something else, and remained untouched until now. They are pigment saturated, unlike other crayons and make wonderful marks. Those turquoise bits are from that box.
You may note the curved pieces in this collage and that was a bit of my fabric fusing past coming into the design. O boy, now I am onto something!

Red Collage #3, same techniques, same size, same price. As with fused fabric, everything collage is usable and I had shapes cut already from #2, so wham-o, I picked them to make this piece. I am seriously trying to simplify, and have some quieter areas of in the composition.

The wrapped edge. (In the 60's I worked for a gift wrap mfg. company. It all comes around).

Round Two: Taking Names

This time I am offering several new colorways, darker, more neutral or even one pastel. Here's how this works: Both cardivests or pullover styles are available, your choice. I will need your bust and hip measurements, and the cost is $100. Email me.
First come first served. Of course I already have a few knits yet to make, but you will be next based on when I get your email. (I've made and sold 7 since I started mid September).

Pool Floor

Pool Floor collage #8, 9x12" painted and stamped, monoprinted papers, with ink drawing, mounted directly on cradled wood board.

I have a set of ink pens with bright colors and two tips, fine and bold, and can't resist using them to spotlight the surfaces, making bubbles.

The papers are wrapped around the board's edges and then I painted the blank spaces. This really helped unify the composition, but as I was pasting away, I had no plan on the final piece, and when the board was covered, it was challenging to try to bring it all together. My solution was to do a gelli plate mono-print directly overlapping the top and center parts.

Here's where the 'magic' happens. Ha!
I start with a clear table, but it doesn't take long to get cluttered up with materials and tools. My table has a shower curtain covering it, plus a 20x30" sheet of white paper. I clean my brayer on that sheet and can use the dried paint to collage.

Gray Matters

Gray Matters collage #7, 12x12", watercolor paper mounted on cradled wooden board, stamping, drawing, mono-printing, painted papers. $100 Email me.
In case it is not totally obvious, I am having a great time playing with paint and papers, stamps and prints and making collages. Such discoveries. I tried for a neutral base with just a little color, of which yellow became the necessary focus. Yay yellow!

And in the mail today I received two little gel press plates, 5x7" and 3x5", which I got half price from Joann.com. I already have the big Gelli plate which is 12x14"and makes big mono-prints. But sometimes one wants to just have smaller formats...so I ordered these. 3” x 5” Gelli® Printing Plate
I'll be playing with these soon as I can clear off my desk. ha!
