Hotcakes #2

HOTCAKES #2
Hand dyed cottons and silk, commercial prints, fused, machine quilted, and mounted on a painted wood panel. 12" square. $100 plus shipping.
Email me.
My camera doesn't want to capture the subtle lime green of the panel, Margarita green. So I am showing two pictures in different lighting to try and get closer to the right color. Either way, these are hot colors, so if you are on Spring Break, this scheme should feel familiar. I am currently watching Bloodline on Netflix which takes place in the Florida Keys, and obviously it is influencing my palette.

  1. Melody, In this blog post, you mentioned my exact problem with trying to photograph my hand dyed fabrics. It is SO difficult to capture the true color(s). Do you have any tricks for capturing true colors of hand dyes? Or do you tweak the colors to closer to true in photo editing software?
I really appreciate your blog, I have learned so much over the past couple years of following you. I love your work!

    1. My studio has full spectrum florescent lights but even so I do have to tweak the color to brighten them. I use Picasa3 and it has a button "I'm feeling lucky' which adjusts the lighting perfectly, most of the time. The painted surface is a little different because it is in that range that the camera finds difficult. Just slightly greener than yellow, and is sees it as yellow instead. I sometimes have trouble with aqua too.
      I hope that helps.

  2. Thanks! I love Picassa, just do not realize it's full potential! I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.
