Side Panel Update

On the prototype, I knit the fronts and back separately and sewed them together. But later realized I could knit the whole jacket seamlessly. Here is the new side panel, knit in the round up to the end decreases of the bottom miters. The remaining stitches, minus the sleeve stitches (60-65) are joined with a three needle bind off. Neat as a pin.

Here is the back view, unblocked at this time of course.

  1. This is SO BEAUTIFUL! Your color selection is divine! Reds, Purples, Pinks, Greens and Aquas to name a few, oh my! Can't wait to see it finished. I love the new side panel, so neat and tidy..... I loved the other one too but this is a nice new detail. Brilliant!

  3. so in the picture it still looks like there is a seam in the center of the bottom of the panel. But I think I figured it out--is that where you started your knitting in the round?

I love the look and the clever construction of this sweater. MUST try!!

    1. Yes Debbie, that is where I started the round. In this jacket I cast on 25 and then picked up along the edge of the jacket, and then cast on 25 more stitches to meet in the middle. The seam doesn't begin until the miters meet, and then it is not a seam, but a three needle bind off. Remaining stitches are for the sleeve.

  5. I have no idea how you do this and I love it so much. Somehow, id I ever manage to understand the instructions, I would love it for me to be a poncho with no sleeves. Well, that's me and my taste. You are awesome.

  6. It is very beatiful. I am making him with your explanation but I think I have included too few stitches on the side. It doesn't look good and becomes smaller on the side

    1. I have restarted the panel and have one stitch longer included with each diamond. Now it looks good
