New Projects

I've been playing around with a new jacket design and the two fronts are finished and I am about to start the back. The drawing is the back's design. It will continue to have the vertical lines and miters at the hem. I was standing in the light which made the left side in shadow when I shot this picture. Live and learn. Silk Garden and periwinkle superwash merino. At this point I think there will be a button band added to close the jacket.

I've also gotten the bug to sew some more tunics, since I recently found a bunch of great comfy leggings, the new replacement for sweatpants! No sweatpants allowed in my wardrobe. 

  

 I have all these new batiks (and some vintage ones) which I can use for the tunics I plan.

 Notice the little toes standing on the stool to photograph the stash.

Yellow Affair

I disassembled yesterday's effort and used the pieces as highlights to design this larger work. As I look at the cropped sections above, I can see these are individual art quilt designs.  So with this top one gets four compositions in one.

Scrap Play

 I sewed lots of scraps together and it left me with one thought: What a mess!

While colorful, it has no focus, and so I finally remembered Less is More.

 

But there are interesting small compositions within this piece, and if I disassembled them and balanced them with some plain color in larger pieces, I could have the start of some better work.
